Häyhä was a simple farmer on the Finish/Russian border when Russia invaded in 1939. Häyhä was quickly attached to a sniper unit and was so prolific in his art that he scored 545 confirmed kills against the Russian invaders. On March 6, 1940, Häyhä was struck in the jaw with an exploding bullet that would take him out of the rest of the war.
