A short article on the idea of the flying tank. Them para boys would've had some rightful support in the enemy's rear if they could have just gotten it right. I guess sticking them into gliders was the next best thing but it sure would have scared the shit outta most seeing enemy armor falling from the sky en masse.

The Soviets wanted to have a flying tank from the end of the Civil War, even earlier. Initially the idea was to stick tanks into gliders, but in the Cold War era this ended up with air-dropped tanks (and armoured helicopter gunships).
