"Karl Alm was an infantry bataillon commander in the northern sector of
the Eastern Front in the summer of 1944. During this time, as the 205
Infantry Division was engaged in combat between Polozk and Dünaburg,
his bataillon came under attack from two Soviet regiments. A group of
about 100 Soviet soldiers broke through to the bataillon headquarters.
However Alm had assembled his battalion staff for a counterattack, and
in the fighting which followed this counterattack virtually wiped out
the attackers. 70 Soviet troops were left dead on the battlefield and 11
were taken prisoner. During this counterattack Alm was wounded for the
11th time." from his Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross citation, awarded on August 12th, 1944 as Hauptmann of the 205th Infantry Division.
Another capable enemy elite,
Brian
