Nálepka was a Slovak captain who organized and led an anti-fascist Slovak partisan detachment in the Soviet Union during World War II. He was made a Hero of the Soviet Union and received the Order of Lenin on May 2, 1945. He would also receive a medal of the Order of the White Lion 1st Class on October 28, 1948 for his actions.
