Enemy Elite Friday: Johannes Arndt (Germany)

"Johannes Arndt was the commander of an infantry regiment during the Soviet offensive around Leningrad in January 1944.  On the 15.01.1944 Arndt’s regiment was able to hold its ground against a powerful assault and thus prevent the encirclement of two German divisions.  These were eventually able to withdraw, and in the process reserves could be released and the front was stabilized.  Such an important operational achievement was possible due to the resolve of Arndt and his regiment, and because of that Arndt would receive the Knight’s Cross shortly afterwards."  from his Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross citation, awarded on February 23rd, 1944 as Oberstleutnant with Grenadier Regiment 391 with the 170th Infantry Division

Another enemy elite,
