Enemy Elite Friday: Oskar Albrecht (Germany)

"Oskar Albrecht was an Pak gun commander during the opening moves of Operation Barbarossa.  On the 30.06.1941, during the combat in the Zelwianka sector, his regiment came under attack by about 35 Soviet tanks.  Albrecht and his gun crew proved to be up to their assigned role however, and at a range of 30-70 meters his gun destroyed 3 Soviet heavy tanks and immobilized 2 more.  When his gun was temporarily disabled through battle damage, Albrecht destroyed a 6th Soviet tank in close combat with hand grenades.  By destroying these 6 tanks he deprived the attacking Soviet forces of resolve for a further attack, and the result was that a penetration into his Regiment’s right flank was prevented."  from his Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross citation, awarded on July 24th, 1941 as Unteroffizier in the  29th Infantry Division "Falke"

Another deadly enemy elite,
