oft-forgotten defensive battles of Army Group Center during the winter
of 1943-44. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross for the defensive
accomplishments of his battalion at the Propoisk-Mogilev road on the
31.03.1944." from his Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross awarded on May 4th, 1944 as a hauptmann with the Grenadier Regiment 17, 31 Infantry Division.
