Users:  Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland (StuGs Only), Slovakia (Panzers Only), Hungary, Italy (StuGs Only), Spain (StuGs Only) Croatia (Panzers Only), & Turkey
Vehicle Charts:  We use the vehicle charts for the PzKpfw III & StuG III in the Tanker's Challenge supplement and modify where needed.
Crew:  The Ausf A-N, Flakpanzers, StuGs, StuH, SiG 33 & all PzBefs have crews of 5 (commander, gunner (or radio op.), loader, driver & radio op.), the Flammpanzer has a crew of 4 (commander, gunner, driver & radio op.), the Bergepanzer, Munitionspanzer auf Fahrgestell StuG III Ausf G, Pionierpanzerwagen auf Fgst Panzer III & Minenraumpanzer all have crews of 3 (commander, driver & radio op.)
Radio:  All models of the PzKpfw III are fitted with radios as basic issue.
Schurzen:  PzKpfw IIIs and StuG IIIs in mid '43 or later can be fitted with spaced armor skirts called
"Schurzen".  This additional armor was meant to protect the vehicle from enemy HEAT weapons deployed on the modern battlefield and halves the AP of any HEAT-type weapon or explosives.  Schurzen protects all turret side and turret rear locations and all hull side locations.  Once an incoming round has been modified by the armor it is no longer able to do so again at the same location because the armor has been destroyed by the previous impact.  Availability for vehicles in '43 is 12 or less, '44 is 16 or less and '45 or later is 18 or less.
IR Upgradable:  All PzKpfw IIIs and StuG III models are capable of being fitted with the Sperber "Falcon" IR System as described in the IR Rules.  Availability is an 8 on the Eastern Front and a 5 on all other fronts.
Winterketten or Ostketten Tracks:  Any model from mid '42 on may be fitted with the Winterketten track grousers for use in ice and snowy fronts or from early '44 on with the Ostketten track for muddy battlefields.  The Winterketten will provide a -1 to all Bog Checks made in snow or icy terrain and the Ostketten will provide a -1 to all Bog Checks in muddy terrain.  Both tracks types will also negate any High Ground Pressure penalties.  Availability for each is a 8 or less for any front.
Open-Topped:  Any models with an open top will be bound by the Open-Topped rules as such.
Tarpaulin Cover:   Open-Topped models are equipped with a tarp as basic kit.
Duel Co-Aux LMGs:  The PzKpfw III Ausf A-F have duel co-aux LMGs.  The MGs are fired by the gunner and use the normal rules for co-aux machine guns as described within the the core rulebook.
Faulty Suspension:  Due to the experimental suspension on the Ausf A & B models, these models will suffer a +1 to any Bog Checks made in rough terrain.
3.7cm KwK 36 L/46:  The PzKpfw III Ausf A-Gs are fitted with the KwK 36 L/45 which fires both AP and HE rounds.
5cm KwK 38 L/42:  Some PzKpfw III Ausf E-Js are fitted with the KwK 38 L/42 which fires only AP rounds.
5cm KwK 39 L/60:  The PzKpfw III Ausf J-Ms are fitted with the KwK 39 L/60 which fires AP, APCR and HE rounds.  APCR Availability is a 10 or less with D6 rounds available.
7.5cm KwK 37 L/24:  The PzKpfw III Ausf N is fitted with the KwK 37 L/24 which fires AP, canister, chemical smoke, HEAT and HE rounds.
7.5cm  StuK 37 L/24:  The StuG III Ausf A-Es are fitted with the StuK 37 L/24 which fires AP, canister, chemical smoke, HEAT and HE rounds.
7.5cm Kt.Kw.K. Canister Shell:  This shell was in essence a large shotgun that fired 960 9mm steel balls in a devastating short ranged pattern.  To fire the shell, just use the normal rules to fire the main gun and then place the 75mm Canister template 6" directly forward of the barrel and roll as normal for anything under the template.  Anything within the path of the 6" before the template is placed is considered to be hit with an A column hit.  Note that because the shell is in essence a shotgun shell, it can be used whilst on the move without the normal To Hit modifiers for moving whilst firing.  The Availability is 10 with D10 shells available.
PaK 38 L/60:  A few PzKpfw Ausf Ls were fitted with the PaK 38 L/60 which can fire AP, APCR and HE.  Availability for this upgrade is a 5 for Ausf L models only.  APCR Availability is a 10 or less with D6 rounds available.
7.5cm StuK 40 L/43:  The StuG III Ausf F is fitted with the StuK 40 L/43 which fires AP, APCR, HEAT and HE rounds.  APCR Availability is a 8 or less with D6 rounds available.
7.5cm StuK 40 L/48:  The StuG III Ausf F, F/8 and Ausf Gs are fitted with the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 which fires AP, APCR, HEAT and HE rounds.  APCR Availability is a 8 or less with D6 rounds available.
1.05cm StuH 42 L/48:  The StuH 42 is fitted with the StuH 42 L/48 which fires AP, HEAT, chemical smoke and HE.
Smoke Launchers: Over the time span of the PzKpfw III and its variants there have been a couple different types of smoke launchers available.  Early models used two sets of dual smoke launchers fixed to either side of the hull rear loaded with smoke rounds.  The commander uses an action to fire the launchers in which both will fire a single smoke round that will then smoke the front 180-degrees of the turret's front.  The launchers can only be reloaded externally and it will take a crewman one action to load a single launcher.  If only one set is loaded and then fired, it will only produce a 90-degree smoke cloud to the front side of whatever launcher was fired.  Later models used a pair of three-tube, smoke grenade launchers fitted to either side of the turret.  The commander uses an action to fire the launcher in which all six tubes fire a single smoke grenade that will then smoke the front 180-degrees of the turret's front.  The smoke launcher can only be reloaded externally and it takes a crewman two actions to do so for each of the two launchers.  If only one launcher is loaded and then fires, it will only produce a 90-degree smoke cloud to the front side of whatever launcher was fired.  This smoke discharger was replaced with the Nahverteidigungswaffe launcher in lateer production models and retrofitted to many of the early production turrets as well.  The Nahverteidigungswaffe is a launcher that is fitted in the turret that is capable of firing small shells from within the safety of the turret.  The launcher has a 360-degree field of fire and is capable of firing fragmentation, smoke or flare shells.  It will cost the loader one action to load and another to fire the Nahverteidigungswaffe.  The launcher may be rotated 180-degrees and be fired in the same action it moved.  Both the fragmentation and smoke shells produce a Medium HE template when fired.  The shell's template can be placed anywhere along a 360-degree arc, 2" away from the center of the vehicle.  The crew must be Buttoned-Up when the Nahverteidigungswaffe fires a fragmentation shell or any exposed crew could be hit.  Note that if any crew are exposed, the weapon will not be used until they duck down into the vehicle or they Buttoned-Up.  Use the WYSIWYG rule to determine the type of smoke launcher available to the vehicle in question.
PzBefWg Ausf D, Ausf E & Ausf H:  All these vehicles look like their respective models with the exceptions of a fake main gun mounted in a fixed turret, additional vision blocks and pistol ports added to the vehicle, the hull-mounted LMG was replaced with a pistol port, the addition of a frame antenna at the rear of the vehicle and the addition of thicker armor to the hull and turret.  The gunner for the main gun was replaced with that of an extra radio operator.
PzBefWg Ausf J & Ausf K:  The Ausf J was identical to the normal model with the exception of the deletion of the hull-mounted LMG and less ammo within the vehicle to make room for the extra radio equipment.  The Ausf K is based off the Ausf M with the addition of some extra vision blocks and pistol ports.  The tank's turret was also modified with a new gun mantel, the co-aux LMG was replaced with a driver's-type vision slit and the turret was provided with less ammo storage to make place for the additional radio equipment.
PzKpfw III Ausf G mit Schachtellaufwerk:  These G models where fitted with a new suspension and will act as any other Ausf G for gaming purposes.
Flammpanzer III:  These vehicles are in essence an Ausf M or StuG with the main gun replaced with a flame thrower.  The flamethrower has enough fuel for 10 shots and will use the Vehicle-Mounted flamethrower template.  The tip of the template will be placed 2" directly in front of the flamethrower's position.  Any prone figures between the template and tank will make an immediate Morale Check and any standing will suffer an automatic Gory Death.  All normal flamethrower rules apply.  Any penetrating hits to the front 18 and 19, right 18, rear 17 and 18 and top 8 locations will cause an automatic Catastrophic result on the Penetration Effects chart due to the penetration of the flamethrower's fuel tank.  The weapon takes an action to fire by the tank's gunner.
PzKpfw III als Tauchpanzer:  Amphibious PzKpfw IIIs are fitted with equipment that allows the tank to move submerged in water.  These panzers can move at 1/4 its normal speed while under water.  The tank cannot be targeted if underwater unless by other underwater units.  It is possible to target the tank in shallow water at a +2 To Hit due to smaller target while in water.  If the vehicle is penetrated while underwater, the tank will be lost and the crew will be KIA unless they pass a 1/4 Skill Check to escape the drowning tank.  This Skill Check is at 1/2 if not submerged but still in water.   Follow all  amphibious rules as normal.  Availability is a 5 for any PzKpfw III model.
Artillerie-Panzerbeobachtungswagen:  This vehicle is identical to any other Ausf E-H models with the exception of the main gun being removed and replaced with a machine gun that will operate like a hull-mounted machine gun.  The vehicle is also fitted with addition armor to the hull and turret and fitted with a dummy barrel to make it look as if it was a normal panzer.  To represent this ruse, any Sighting Checks made to this vehicle outside the viewer's Command Range or further then 30" will look as if a normal PzKpfw III.
15cm sIG 33/1:  The SiG 33 150mm auf PzKpfw III Ausf H and Sturminfanteriegeschütz 33B are both armed with the 15cm sIG 33/1 howitzer that is capable of firing HE, HEAT and chemical smoke rounds.  Both vehicles have a 6-degree fire arc to the vehicle's front so if a target lays outside of this firing arc it will force the vehicle to move to engage it.
Bergepanzer III:  This recovery vehicle had a huge Panzerbergeanker that was used to anchor down the vehicle as it winched out a disabled vehicle.  It takes the crew D6+4 actions to secure the anchor and vehicle for towing in this manner.  This vehicle could tow or wench up to 30tons.
Minenraumpanzer III:  This vehicle was designed with a high suspension and boon that would deploy explosives against enemy minefields or other targets and then detonate the explosives by remote control when safely away.  It will take the commander an action to place or drop the charge and then another to detonate it.  Note that any turret penetrations will not roll on the Vehicle Effects Chart but will rather destroy the boom crane instead.
Panzer III Ausf N als Schienen-Ketten Fahrzeug:  Some Ausf N models where converted to allow them to move by their own power on railroad tracks.  These tanks could also operate as normal off the tracks when the track wheels where lifted under the tank.  It takes the crew an action to either disengage or engage the railroad wheels and another for the tanks to get off or line up on the tracks.  The Availability of this Ausf N model is a 8 on the Eastern Front and a 5 on any other front.
Pionierpanzerwagen auf Fgst Panzer III:  This model is in essence a turret-less PzKpfw III that is fitted with a pair of assault bridges and other engineering equipment in the hull.  It takes 4 men an action to attach or detach the bridges from the vehicle.  The bridges can be carried up to 4" per action if moved by at least 4 men at once.  The bridges can hold up to 20 tons.  Note that any turret penetrations will not roll on the Vehicle Effects Chart but will rather destroy the assault bridges if any are mounted.
Ammunition Carriers:  These are turret-less models of the PzKpfw III or a gun-less StuG that carry addition 75mm ammunition for StuG units.  Because of the amount of ammunition within the the above two models, they will suffer an additional -2 to the Vehicle Effects Chart if penetrated.
StuG Ausf A-E:  These models of the StuG have a 24-degree fire arc to the vehicle's front.  Any targets outside of this fire arc will force the vehicle to have to move to engage it.
StuG Ausf F-G, StuH 42:  These models have a 20-degree fire arc to the vehicle's front.  Any targets outside of this fire arc will force the vehicle to have to move to engage it.
Co-Aux MG on StuG III Ausf G & StuH 42:  Late models of the StuG III and StuH 42 have modified gun mantels that allow for a co-aux LMG.  All earlier models where not provided with a co-aux machine gun.  Availability is a 10 or less on any StuG Ausf F, F/8 or G models.
StuG & StuH Loader's Machine Gun:  Mid war models of the StuG and StuH can be fitted with a shielded light machine gun on the outside of the loader's hatch.  This MG has a 180-degree arc to the vehicle's front and will offer the loader the +5 Gun Shield modifier to any fire coming from the vehicle's forward arc.  Later model StuG F-Gs and StuH 42s were fitted with a remote-controlled machine gun that the loader could man from within the vehicle's hull.  The weapon has a 360-degree field of fire but can only be rotated 180-degrees and fired within the same action.  Any targets outside of the weapons fire arc will cause the loader to use an action to rotate the weapon first then use an action to fire.  If the weapon jams the loader must be unbuttoned to unjam it.  Note that the remote-controlled machine gun also has a gun shield and will provide the loader with a +5 Gun Shield modifier if it is point in such a way as to allow for its protection.  Availability for the remote-controlled MG is a 5 or less on the StuG F-G and StuH 42 models and a 1 on any other models.
Indirect Fire:  The SiG 33 150mm auf PzKpfw III Ausf H, StuH 42 and Sturminfanteriegeschütz 33B are all capable of indirect fire.  The 15cm sIG 33/1 howitzer has a minimum range of 45" and the StuH 48 L/48 has a minimum range of 60".
Wargaming Pieces:  There are many different model kits and die-cast toys in 1/48 or 1/50 so do a bit of Binging and see what you can find.
