"Argosy"

January '43 issue

February '76

Argosy is considered the first American pulp magazine and had one hell of a run from 1882-1978.  The early years of the mag was heavy fiction that was fit for the classics but later on in the 40s, 50s and 60s it got to the grindhouse trash that I like.  In the 70s, the mag became a Playboy wanna-be, minus all the hot naked chicks, so it's hipster BS would soon get it flushed down the crapper.  So if you like classic adventure fiction, get some of the early stuff and if you like the heavy pulp then get the 40s-60s stuff and if you want that pedestrian men's news shit, get Maxium.
A true heavyweight pulp mag for many a years,
Brian
