He was awarded the Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross on April 7th, 1943 as Major of the I.Battailon/94.Infantry-Regiment/Romanian Army during the fighting in and around Stalingrad.

 

He would then be awarded the Order of Micheal the Brave 3rd Class on May 9th, 1943 for the same actions as above. 

 

Lastly, he would receive the Order of Micheal the Brave 2nd Class on May 13th, 1943 as Lt. Col. of the 95th Infantry Division and their actions on the Eastern Front.
